Throggs Neck, NY – Sophomore midfielder Kelly Carroll (Bethany Beach, Del./Indian River) (Bethany, DE/Indian River) scored her second goal of the season in a tough 3-1 loss to the Beavers of the City College of New York on Wednesday October 5th in women’s soccer action.

Just a little under seven minutes into the game, the Beavers took the early 1-0 lead after a shot by sophomore forward Tivere Shemi (New York, NY/MCSM) hit the back of the net. However, the Privateers would battle back as Carroll’s goal at 14:09 total time tied the game at one a piece, as it would remain through the rest of the first half.

The Beavers started off the second half with a bang, scoring the game winning goal a minute into the half. The goal was scored by sophomore midfielder Ana Alban (New York, NY/Julia Richman), she would also go onto to score the third of the game much later on in the half.

Senior goalkeeper Kim DiGiulio (Massapequa, NY/Amittyville Memorial) (Massapequa, NY/Amityville), had her best game this season stopping 16 of the Beavers 29 shots taken and allowed only three goals. On the other side the field, sophomore goalkeeper Marcella Dawson (Bronx, NY/Julia Richman) finished with one save and one goal allowed.

The Maritime Women’s Soccer team will have a nice break until their next game, which is on Friday October 14th when they travel to Purchase, NY to take on the Panthers of Purchase College in a 4pm match.
