Throggs Neck – This past weekend, the Privateer Football team embarked on their first road trip of the season to Bangor, ME where they took on the Eagles of Husson College. The final result showed in favor of Husson, but once again the Privateers played a hard fought game up until the final whistle.
The Privateers were led by freshman running back
Greg Campisi (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook) (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook) with 39 yards on eight carries. Sophomore quarterback
Zack Townsend (Corning, NY/Corning East) passed for 34 yards and had 23 yards on the ground.

Ryan Leary (Tavares, FL/Tavares (FL)) (Leesburg, FL/Tavares) was the defensive leader with 8.5 tackles, he also got help from junior defensive lineman
Arlis Steel (Lawton, Okla./Lawton) (Lawton, OK/Lawton) who finished with eight tackles.
“It was a struggle because they had over 100 players and we were significantly outweighed in most positions. However, our team just didn’t quit and kept fighting. We came out of the game bruised pretty good. but I know that our program is fine because of the way the team held together. We can build a great program on the Character that was displayed by the team today,” stated Coach
Clayton Kendrick-Holmes following Saturday’s game.
Some, more than others, were more than just a little bruised coming out of Saturday's game. Sophomore running back
Donald Toby (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) separated his shoulder and will be out at least two weeks. Also, freshman defensive back/punter
Dan McManus (Tavares, FL/Tavares) (Tavares, FL/Tavares) suffered a broken hand during the game and will be out the remainder of the season. The Maritime Athletic Department wishes both student-athletes a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing them back on the field in the near future.
The Privateers will now prepare for their next road trip, when they travel down to Washington, DC on Saturday October 22nd to take on the Bison of Gallaudet University, kickoff is set for 1:00pm.
