Throggs Neck, NY – Freshman midfielder Emilio Andino (Roselle, NJ/Abraham Clark) (Roselle, NJ/Abraham Clark) scored the Privateers second goal, which proved to be the game winning goal as Maritime defeated Brooklyn College in a non-conference men’s soccer game Monday evening underneath the lights in the school’s first ever night men’s soccer game.

 

Sophomore midfielder Quentin Peabody (Chatham, NJ/Seton Hall Prep) (Chatham, NJ/Seton Hall Prep) scored Maritime’s first goal off of a pass from freshman defender Patrick O’Connor (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) to give the Privateers a 1-0 lead at 20:35 total time. This was Peabody’s third goal of the season, and O’Connor picks up his first assist. Andino netted his fifth of the season at 37:08 total time, sophomore forward Thomas Bonn (Wilkes-Barre, N.Y./James M. Coughlin) (Wilkes-Barre, NY/James M. Coughlin) had the assist.

 

Sophomore goalkeeper Matt Kavanaugh (Penfield, NY/Penfield) (Penfield, NY/Penfield) went 83 minutes without allowing a goal in this one as senior forward David Wells (Brooklyn, NY/Curtis) squeezed one past him as Brooklyn attempted to make a push late in the game.

 

The Privateers resume conference play on Wednesday, when they host the Cyclones of Centenary College for a 4pm start. This will be a huge game for the Privateers, who have only three conference games remaining and are clinging onto fourth place in the conference and possibly their first playoff birth since 1996.
