Throggs Neck, NY – The Maritime Ruby Club remained unbeaten as they took down the Rangers of Drew College 38-0 in a Metropolitan Conference game on Sunday October 12th in Throggs Neck.
The Maritime forward pack dominated the whole game, leading the team with four tries one from senior
John Keller (Trumbull, Conn./) (Trumbull, CT), one from senior
William Walkup (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) (Greenwich, CT), and two from sophomore
Andre Walker (Genada, NY/St. Rose) (Genada, NY).
Junior fly half
Ian Gray (Staten Island, NY/Saint Peters) (Staten Island, NY) and junior center
Dan “Cosby” O’Haire (Rhinebeck, NY) both scored remarkable tries late in the game, insuring Maritime’s victory. Gray scored a try off a blocked punt from one of Drew’s players. Junior
Christopher Tamulonis (Bellrose, NY/Great Neck South) (Bellerose, NY) scored nine points through out the game, as the Privateers denied Drew any chances of surmounting a comeback.
The team sent a special thanks to
Tom Lorenzen (Montose, NY/Hendrich Hudson), for leading the Maritime crew through out the game. Next, the Maritime Rugby Club will face off against Montclair State on October 16th at 1:00pm in Upper Montclair, NJ.
