Volleyball takes a tough defeat to MSV

Riverdale, NY – In a special holiday match up, the Privateer women’s volleyball team took a tough defeat to the Dolphins of Mount Saint Vincent, 3-0 on Monday October 10 in a Skyline Conference match at Hayes Gymnasium in Riverdale, NY.
 
After a rough loss in the first game, 30-8, the Privateers quickly rebounded, pushing the Dolphins to the limit with a 30-23 second game and 30-28 third game. Freshman outside hitter Lindsay Wheeler (Buffalo, NY/Iroquois) (Buffalo, NY/Iroquois) stood in for sophomore Brittany McVea (Camillus, NY/West Genesse) (Camillus, NY/West Genesse), at setter and had an incredible performance finishing with six assists in a game and half. McVea returned to action during the second game and played all of the third, finishing out the day with seven assists.
 
Sophomore middle blockers Jeanette Golson (Brooklyn, NY/Transit Tech) (Brooklyn, NY/Transit Tech) and Marissa Webber-Bey (Far Rockaway, NY/Fashion Industries) looked to be back in their groove from last season as Golson had nine solo blocks and Webber-Bey finished with five. Last season, the duo combined for 92 solo blocks.
 
The Privateer Volleyball team returns to action on Thursday October 12 when they host the Mariners of the Merchant Marine Academy for a 7pm match.
