Robyn Serge concluded her second season as Head Women’s Soccer Coach following the 2017 season.
In addition to her role as head coach of the women’s soccer program, Serge also serves as the Compliance Officer for the Department.
In her second year at the helm of the Privateers, the largest freshman recruiting class in program history finished the season with a 4-9-2 overall record. Following the Skyline Conference selected a program-record two Privateers for All-Conference honors including Sara Wright for the first team, and Cammie Havens on the second team. During the season the team had three selections for Skyline Weekly Honors including Julianna Avitto being named Player of the Week on September 18.
During her first season at Maritime, Serge led the program to four victories overall and one win in the Skyline Conference. Over the course of the season, the Privateers had two selections earn Skyline Conference Weekly Honor Roll accolades as both Gayle Woods and Jessica Yee were selected.
Serge comes to Maritime from St. Michael’s High School in Santa Fe, New Mexico as the Head Soccer Coach, and was also a science teacher. Under her stint as head coach, the Horsemen went 10-0 in district games each year, while also earning two state runner-up crowns in both 2014 and 2015.
Prior to her stop at St. Michael’s, Serge coached collegiate soccer at Division III Benedictine University in Illinois. While coaching the Eagles from 2006 through 2012, Serge guided the team to 41 victories over six seasons, including a pair of trips to the Northern Athletics Conference (now Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference) Tournament. While coaching at Benedictine, she also served as the soccer chair for the conference.
In addition to her role with Benedictine and the NAC, Serge also played a role in building the expansion Chicago Red Eleven of the United Soccer League W-League. While with the Red Eleven, Serge served as the Director of Operations and served as an Assistant Coach with the organization.
Before her stop in suburban Chicago, Serge was the Head Women’s Soccer Coach and Assistant Softball Coach at her alma mater, Rockford College in Rockford, Illinois. While there, she also was a part of the academic advisement team for incoming student-athletes; and also taught biomechanics as an adjunct professor in the physical education department, and also taught first-year practicum to incoming students.
In advance of returning to her alma mater, Serge began her collegiate coaching career at Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin. In addition to her role as head coach of the Buccaneers, she also taught high school anatomy, physiology and biology in the Rockford, Illinois school district.
She holds her National Diploma with the NSCAA and the Brazilian Olympic Committee Sports Exchange Program Advanced License. In addition, she has previously served on the board of Chicago’s Women’s Sports Foundation “Go Girl Go!”, which is a charitable, educational organization dedicated to promoting girls and women in sports and fitness. She is also a certified doping control officer with the USADA, testing Olympic, Pan American and Paralympic athletes nationally.
The Las Vegas, Nevada native attended Rockford University, where she played both soccer and softball for each of her four years in college. She still holds the school records for career goals in soccer, while also holding the career records for runs scored and stolen bases for the softball team.
She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and Physical Education from Rockford, and later went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Teaching with an emphasis in the science curriculum. During her time in graduate school, Serge played semi-professionally with the W-League Rockford Dactyls for two seasons.
