Bill Rueger heads into his fifth season as the Maritime cross country coach beginning in the Fall of 2019.

Reuger and the Privateers saw another successful season in 2019 as the men finished second at the Skyline Conference Championship with Curtis Bates and Sean Hobson earning First-Team All-Conference honors. The men's team also won the Fred Pavlich Invite at Bard College during the regular season. On the women's side, the Privateers Female Athlete of the Year, Katia Aaron, earned Second-Team All-Conference honors at the championship meet.

The 2017 season saw Rueger help the both teams to successful seasons, including a victory at the Skyline Conference Championship for the men’s program. The women’s team also had a successful showing with a sixth place finish, up two positions from the previous year. At the championship meet, the Privateers had a pair of All-Conference honorees from the men’s team including Curtis Bates ’20 and Sean Hobson ’20, who both earned top-five finishes at the championship.

In 2016, Rueger led the cross country teams to a productive season as the men's team finished third and the women's team finished eighth at the Skyline Conference Cross Country Championships. The men's team had three All-Conference selections, including Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year Sean Hobson '20.

Rueger also coached the team in 2011, and led the men's team to a second place finish at the Skyline Conference Championships as the women's team finished a program-best third at the event. After the season the men's team had a pair of Skyline All-Conference selections, while the women's team also placed one on the All-Conference squad.

In addition to his role as the cross country coach, Rueger is also the Director of the Physical Plant/Facilities on the Maritime College campus. He resides locally in Throggs Neck, N.Y.
