Patrick MacDonald was announced as a recipient for the 2015-16 SUNY Chancellor Scholar Athlete Award.

MacDonald was one of two selections for the award for the Privateers.

This year, MacDonald was a selection for the Skyline Conference Academic Honor Roll following his first season with the Privateers. MacDonald is planning to graduate with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and was submitted with a grade-point average above a 3.46 through the fall 2015 semester.
 
In addition to his academic success, MacDonald was a Skyline Conference First Team selection following his sophomore year. On the court, MacDonald averaged a double-double with 16.0 points and 10.1 rebounds in the team's 25 games. He averaged 33.2 minutes per game and was amongst the league leaders in field goal percentage after hitting 150 of his 270 shot attempts during his sophomore season. On the glass, MacDonald set Maritime single-season records with 98 offensive rebounds and 155 defensive rebounds, to give him the single-season mark of 253 boards this year.
