KINGS PARK, N.Y. (Oct. 21, 2013) – The Maritime men's and women's cross country teams took part in the St. Joseph's-Long Island Invitational out in Sunken Meadow Park in Kings Park, N.Y. this past Saturday. The Privateer men finished in third place at the event, second among Skyline Conference teams behind St. Joseph's, and the women placed eighth.
The Skyline Conference also announced on Monday that sophomore
Cameron Coneys (Centerport, N.Y./Harborfields) (Centerport, N.Y./Harborfields) and senior

Coneys led the men's squad with a second-place finish out of 113 runners in the 8K race with a time of 28:42.4. He was behind only senior Brian Wersan of St. Joseph's, who ran a 28:15.7. The second Privateer to cross the finish line was freshman
Kevin Sun (Syosset, N.Y./Syosset) (Syosset, N.Y./Syosset), who placed seventh in 30:16.8. A trio of freshmen rounded out the scoring for Maritime, as
Jose Villataro (Copiague, N.Y./Copiague) (Copiague, N.Y./Copiague) came in 26th (31:52.5),
Chris Whelan (Altamont, N.Y./Guilderland) finished in 33rd (32:24.3) and
Evan Robles (Brewster, N.Y./Brewster) (Brewster, N.Y./Brewster) placed 35th (32:32.7).
On the women's side, Bellisari finished in 10th place out of 102 runners in the 5K race in 21:57.3, while freshman
Chelsea Mesa (Bayside, N.Y./Francis Lewis) (Bayside, N.Y./Francis Lewis) came in 30th place with a time of 23:51.6. Junior
Ann Boston (Wappingers Falls, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes) (Wappingers Falls, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes) came in 44th place in 24:59.4, while senior
Courtney Chambliss (Palmdale, Calif./Quartz Hill) (Palmdale, Calif./Quartz Hill) was not far behind in 50th place with a time of 25:20.9. Senior
Theresa D'Amore (Blooming Grove, N.Y./Washingtonville) (Blooming Grove, N.Y./Washingtonville) rounded out the scoring for the women with a 64th place finish in 26:44.4.
The Privateers return to action this coming Sunday, Oct. 27, for the Skyline Conference Championship Meet at Van Cortlandt Park on the other side of The Bronx. The women's race is scheduled for noon, while the men's race will begin at 1 p.m.
