Throggs Neck, NY – On a beautiful fall day at Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, PA the Maritime men’s and women’s crew teams closed out the fall season at the Frostbite Regatta where the women’s novice four captured first place and the men’s team had one second place and two third place finishes on the day.
The women’s four, lead by freshman
Donna Skoczylas (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central) (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central), included senior
Ellen Cava (Princeton, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro) (Princeton, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro), junior
Kaitlin Troutner (Lancaster, PA/Solanco) (Lancaster, PA/Solanco), and sophomore
Moira Kelly (Long Beach, N.Y./Kellenberg) (Long Beach, NY/Kellenberg), and was coxswained by junior
Jack Nurnberger (Island Park, NY/Kellenberg) (Island Park, NY/Kellenberg). They finished the heat with a time of 8:54.07, more than 46 seconds ahead of second place Wilkes University and ahead of school such as the University of Maryland, Lehigh and Penn State.
On the men’s side, the novice eight finished in second place in 6:53.74, while the novice four and the varsity four A boat each placed third in their respective heats. The varsity four A went on to finish sixth overall out of 23 boats in four heats.
This concludes the Privateers fall season, they will return to action in the spring.
