The Maritime football team scored a late fourth-quarter touchdown to overcome a five-point deficit and successfully held off rival-Mass. Maritime in their its last offensive possession to claim its fourth-straight Chowder Bowl Championship with a 15-12 victory Thursday night at Reinhart Field.

Football 2009 Chowder Bowl Champs

The Maritime Football team will look to reclaim its fourth-straight Chowder Bowl Trophy when the squad plays host to the Buccaneers of The Massachusetts Maritime Academy tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 2. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Reinhart Field. The game will mark the beginning of the 2010 campaign for the Privateers, which is the program’s fifth season of play since returning to NCAA Division III in 2006.

The Maritime women’s soccer team, coming off its most successful season to date with eight wins in 2009, opened the 2010 campaign with a 13-0 loss to the Union College Dutchwomen Wednesday night in Upstate New York. The loss moves the Privateers record to 0-1 on the season, while Union opens the year 1-0.

Jill Davenport
Women's Lacrosse

Davenport was named to the Skyline women's lacrosse weekly honor roll. She scored three goals and added one assist in a loss to Centenary College that dropped Maritime’s record to 1-4 on the season. The junior attacker also picked up three draw controls in the contest. Her eight points so far in 2010 – seven goals, one assist – ranks her fourth on the squad.

Alexander Korb
Men's Lacrosse

Junior Alex Korb (Islip, N.Y.) received accolades from the conference on Monday, as he was named to the Skyline men’s lacrosse weekly honor roll. Korb scored a Privateer-leading six goals on the week, including four against Farmingdale State on Wednesday. He also recorded three assists in that game.
