Throggs Neck, NY – The Privateers took on the Merchant Marine Academy in wrestling tonight and suffered a tough 30-19 defeat. However, individually the Privateers still had some positives. Freshman phenom Craig Tomalo (Forked River, NJ) picked up a 7-1 decision in the 184 weight class bringing him only four more wins away from breaking a College record for most wins by a freshman. Sophomore and team captain, Brian Ochs (Sayville, NY) also picked up a decision (16-8) over the Mariners Matt Hedglin.
Freshman heavyweight Phil Gallo (Roslyn, NY) picked up the Privateers only pin of the day as he demolished Adam Shrives.
The wrestling team will return to action for another home meet on Saturday when they host Muhlenberg College and is scheduled to begin at Noon.
