The Maritime women’s volleyball team, under the direction of first-year head coach Emmanuel Palatulan, finished the 2009 campaign with a 4-17 record. The Privateers opened the season with a win over City Tech before building its record to 3-2. The squad would win its final contest of the season in dramatic fashion, coming from behind to defeat Yeshiva, 3-2, and end the season on a positive note.

As the fall athletic seasons come to an end, Maritime College has compiled the top overall sportsmanship rating (.695) in the race for the 2009-10 Skyline Conference Sportsmanship Trophy, as announced by the conference on Friday. The announcement comes on top of the Privateers having already earned Team Sportsmanship Awards for men’s and women’s cross country earlier this month. Two seasons still remain, as the winter sports are beginning now and the spring sports commence at the end of February.

On Senior Day at the Riesenberg Gymnasium Tuesday night, Maritime’s lone graduating-senior Marissa Danzy led her team of four years to an exciting, come-from-behind victory over Yeshiva, 3-2. With the win, the Privateers end the season with a 4-17 record, while the Maccabees fall to 3-14.

The Maritime women’s volleyball team fell to conference-opponent Mount Saint Mary, 3-0, Wednesday night. With the loss, the Privateers fall to 3-17 (0-9 Skyline), while the Blue Knights improve to 17-13 (5-4 Skyline).

Trenkamp was named to the Skyline Conference women's soccer honor roll for the first week of the season after she recorded the first two goals of the season for the Pirvateers in their loss at Southern Maine on Sunday.

Football
Barnes was named ECFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 1 after he was all over the field Thursday night in the Privateers' 15-12 season-opening win over rival Mass. Maritime in the Fourth Annual Chowder Bowl, recording a game-high 17 tackles (14 solo and 3 assisted), including one for a loss of eight yards. He is no stranger to ECFC Defensive Player of the Week nods, as he earned the accolade a conference-best three times during the season in 2009.
