The Maritime sailing team, led by first-year head coach Russ O’Reilly, wrapped up its Spring 2010 season with a 17th-place finish at the ICSA/Gill Coed Dinghy Champs held on Lake Mendota in Madison, Wisc. June 1-3.

The Maritime co-ed sailing team was ranked No. 17 in the nation in the latest bi-weekly coaches poll released by SailingWorld.com on Wednesday. 21 coaches submitted votes for the poll. This comes after a spectacular two weeks on the water for the Privateers.

The Maritime sailing team competed in the Tom Noble Team Race regatta at Washington College in Chestertown, Md., this past weekend. Maritime finished the event in fifth place, winning seven races over the two-day event.

2.25.2010 | Sailing
The SUNY Maritime sailing team traveled to Charleston, S.C., for its first regatta of the spring season this past weekend, Feb. 20-21, hosted by the College of Charleston. Eighteen schools from all over the country participated in the two-day competition. Due to the harsh weather, the Privateers had only one day of practice in New York before departing for the event. The team was led by head coach Russ O’Reilly, a 2007 graduate of the College of Charleston. Throughout the weekend, O’Reilly gave the squad valuable information on sailing in the tricky Charleston conditions.

Jorrie Trenkamp
Women's Soccer
Trenkamp was named to the Skyline Conference women's soccer honor roll for the first week of the season after she recorded the first two goals of the season for the Pirvateers in their loss at Southern Maine on Sunday.

Football
Barnes was named ECFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 1 after he was all over the field Thursday night in the Privateers' 15-12 season-opening win over rival Mass. Maritime in the Fourth Annual Chowder Bowl, recording a game-high 17 tackles (14 solo and 3 assisted), including one for a loss of eight yards. He is no stranger to ECFC Defensive Player of the Week nods, as he earned the accolade a conference-best three times during the season in 2009.
